The Village is a brand spanking new site with not many people on it. Yet. We're attempting to fix that by advertising, affiliating, and threatening people's significant others.
The Village was a small, peaceful town. The villagers praised god and loved him as much as they could. But the Priests, who are in charge of everything, think that they need to be more god fearing, and should not make any advances in their living quality. They force the villagers to think that they are the only ones out there, that they are the last of the human race and they must pray to God that he will help them survive.
But the Priests lie. There are other villages out there, all over the world. who've made advancements in life like music, and color, and books! There are people, from other villages, who like to travel. They travel all over the world to other villages, seeing their advancements. Then they come across this village. This village, who have come to a standstill, because thy chose religion over improving their world. The priests call them rebels, and warn the villagers against them. They say that they will bring the downfall of the village.
This is true. But the "rebels" aren't necessarily going to bring down the village, only the priests and the mayor. They believe that they are purposefully holding their village back just for the sake of religion. The rebels think it wrong of them. So they are planning ways to infiltrate the village, to assassinate the priests and mayor. But they need help. From the inside.
That's where Poppy Hawthorn comes in, the daughter of the mayor. She's a very curious girl, and her curiosity got the better of her about the rebels. She snuck out with her best friend Eddie to go and talk to them. When the head rebel, Liam, found out who she was he decided to use her to get inside.
But what he didn't plan on was Poppy's respect for her father, the priests, and the village itself. She knew not to lead them back to the village, because if she did bad things would happen. But Liam will not stop trying to get her to lead them into the village.
Both sides believe that they are helping the village. But who's right?
THE BUTTON!
